Position Description

The Senior System Administrator sets up, configures, and supports ATI’s on premise and cloud systems infrastructure. Maintains all ATI’s operational applications, security, and system configurations.  Ensure 24x7 IT operations. Performs required troubleshooting on wired, wireless, voice and virtual infrastructure.  Effectively manages the virtual infrastructure. Works closely with IT security to ensure proper implementation of security controls.  Provides IT networking/technology consulting to business operations.  Act as lead technical staff member on projects.  Strong analytical and problem solving abilities required.

ATI's standard business hours are Monday-Friday 8 AM - 5 PM. Our office is located at 315 Sigma Drive, Summerville, SC 29486.  

Essential Functions

  • Supports and ensures the day-to-day IT operations of ATI IT infrastructure by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Supports for successful operation and administration of ATI’s 24x7 IT cloud and on-premise infrastructure. 
  • Manages and ensures the day-to-day IT operations of ATI IT infrastructure by ensuring timely patching of IT infrastructure (Hardware/Software) and Internet of Things (IOT) assets. Applies revisions/patches to both Windows and Linux based systems and software. 
  •  Responsible for ensuring secure, successful operation and administration of ATI’s 24x7 IT cloud and on premise infrastructure by developing, managing and executing patch management strategies that meet ATI Security Compliance requirements and policies.
  •  Performs system administration of ATI systems.
  • Possesses a broad knowledge of key end-user scenarios and technical architecture for Office 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Skype for Business and other Office 365 products.
  • Develops patching plans and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability and unabated operations. Trains IT operations staff in how to use patching software and appliances acquired/implemented. 
  • Provides support and administration of the ATI SAN infrastructure.
  • Responsible for documenting and logging Change management to systems.
  • Share responsible for ensuring alternate disaster recovery site is properly tested and available for continuity of operations in the event of a disaster.
  • Planning and implementation of enterprise software including deployment and package management.
  • Utilize software vulnerability scanning software to determine risk and apply prioritization to system/software patches.
  • Leads and performs troubleshooting/problem solving and resolution of system/network issues primarily involving the patching process.  Troubleshooting may involve internal staff, outside vendors and other support personnel.
  • Monitors network/server activity; performs fault isolation and corrective/proactive preventative maintenance.  Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical computer resources.
  • Maintains and Patches systems, including Windows, Linux Servers, workstations and infrastructure devices both hardware and software to ensure the protection of the IT infrastructure.
  • Establishes guidelines, methods and procedures for the installation and management of patches.  Continuously seeks opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiencies.
  • Ensures appropriate licensing for IT systems.
  • Develops and coordinates project plans and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations.  Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of current documentation of the ATI IT Infrastructure.
  • Architects and designs cost-effective solutions that meet requirements and supports scalability.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Supports 24x7x365 IT operations including performing on-call activities.
  • Assures consistency in work, attention to detail and resolves or elevates issues as appropriate.

  • Ensures accurate and complete records of activities are maintained.

  • Works with the entire IT Department and our internal/external customers in a collaborative environment to ensure that coordination and communications are highly effective.

  • Provides required input and support to Configuration Control Board and other IT governance boards.

  • Proven skills in teamwork and individual responsibility to accomplish goals required.

  • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for ATI to take advantage of new technology.

  • Mentor junior systems administrators to foster a collaborative learning and growth environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.


 

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a communications related field and five years’ experience; or Equivalent years of experience and appropriate certifications. 

IT Certifications such as Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and other similar certifications preferred.

Must have a high degree of knowledge of Systems Administration, System Patching Techniques and software/appliances, Server hardware, software, Experience automating system administration tasks.

High degree of knowledge of Systems Administration, Server hardware, software, LAN/WAN hardware including routing, switches, DNS entries and TCP/IP protocol and IT security necessary.

Knowledge of Microsoft Cloud technologies, including Skype for Business, Intune, Teams, Azure Rights Management, Azure Active Directory and SharePoint is highly preferred

Microsoft O365 experience in the GCC High cloud highly preferred

 

Must have experience with Batch Scripting

Microsoft and Linux/UNIX operating system experience required.

Experience with Virtualized IT infrastructures.

Knowledge and experience with Cloud Infrastructures.

Understanding of and previous experience with ITIL highly desired.

Knowledge of enterprise solution for patch management, WSUS, SCCM, KACE or equivalent patch management tools.
