Responsible for government invoicing, A/R, cash disbursements, cash receipts , cash monitoring, reconciling account balances, project reconciliations, and other accounting duties as required.

Essential Functions

Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

Obtain advanced knowledge of accounting systems (Cost Point, CER, WAWF, etc…)

Enter accounting transactions through preparing general journal entries.

Assist with audit information requests.

Develop and implement policies, procedures and process flows.

Participate in training of AFD procedures, when applicable.

Assist in compliance monitoring.

Review terms and conditions of new contracts (CAA’s and CMF’s)

Train Accounting Specialist(s) in essential functions

Receivables:

Generate and validate commercial and government invoicing (mid month and month end billings)

Monitor receivables to ensure timely collection

Prepare project reconciliations

Prepare Earned and Unbilled reconciliations

Entering bills and monitor payment in WAWF to ensure timely collection

Resolve billing discrepancies resolution via interaction with programs and government (DFAS, DCAA, DCMA)

Reconcile specific account and statement balances on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis

Prepare management reports from Cost Point and CER, as required

Respond to external billing audit requests

Process internal billings as necessary to cover weekly check run

Process advance requests for advance pay programs

Run receivables aging report and provide explanations

Additional Responsibilities

Records management.

Special projects and other duties as required.

Qualifications

BS degree in an Accounting related field and four or more years of directly applicable accounting experience, or MS degree and two or more years of applicable accounting experience within an electronic accounting environment.  Strong computers skills, specifically with Microsoft Office suite; Project accounting, Deltek Costpoint experience preferred.

Must possess the integrity to handle confidential information.

Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of Statutory accounting principles.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Motivated to work independently and on a team to accomplish goals.

Attention to detail and accuracy within context of company policy and contractual obligations.

Problem resolution.

Must successfully pass a background and credit check to access sensitive information and automated systems.

Work Environment

This position is located in an air-conditioned, environmentally controlled atmosphere.
